“What If You Met a Pirate?” Book Review
This book was awesome. I love how the author translated information through the illustrations, pointing out important facts to clarify any misconceptions that the reader might have about pirates. I actually learned a lot by reading this book. I did not know that pirates did not say big ships like you see in movies or books, that they whether have smaller ships so that they can raid others. I did not know that they used different ammo in cannons, according to what they wanted to do to the enemies ship. I mean there was quite a lot that was included in this book that broadened my mind. I have to admit that the whole time I was reading this text, I was comparing it to the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean” with Johnny Depp and I have to admit that there was some authentication, however, there were more discrepancies. I would definitely incorporate this book into my curriculum because it points out several facts that many people have misconceptions about and there are other facts about history that is not normally mentioned in the school curriculum, such as Queen Elizabeth I hiring privateers and that pirates was around during the Crusades. Over all great book.
