“Pirate Diary: The Journal of Jake Carpenter” Book Review
I found this book intriguing. I love how the author was descriptive and creative when Jake wrote in his journal. When the pirates tricked Jake’s captain and invaded the Greyhound, I was able to connect this event with the information that we have already read about. I have to admit that when Jake shot the capitano, I got excited and cheered for his success. I have to say that I was surprised that there were so many crew members willing to giveĀ up piracy for the Act of Grace. There were a few things that made me cringe, such as the maggots in the bread and the way that they relieved themselves on the boat (makes you think twice about swimming in the ocean). As for Jake’s uncle, I kind of figured that he would be reunited with Jake somewhere along the story, of course, I expected it a lot sooner that when it did happen. However, this book made me wonder how many of the men that took the oath, went back to piracy. Over all, great book.
