About Me

I am a 29-year-old undergraduate at Appalachian State University. I only have one semester to finish in receiving my degree. I have been married for two wonderful years and I have two beautiful children, a 9-year-old son and a 1-year-old daughter.

Ever since I was little, I have wanted to be a teacher. I cannot say that there was a teacher that inspired me to be one, however, there were two that were there when I really needed someone to talk to and needed guidance. The reason I have always been inspired to be a teacher is because of believing in the philosophy I have about teaching, which is that every child has a dream/goal and there is not any reason why they cannot achieve this if they receive the right love and guidance.

Things I Like/Love…

Family is the most precious thing to me. My children are the apple of my eye. There is nothing that I would not do for my children. My husband is my soul mate; there is nothing that we do not have in common. We find time, out of our busy lives, to have family time, either we watch movies, play games, or go places as a family. One place we go is a bowling alley, of course, my son beats me every time.

Music is like the sugar in my Kool-Aid, it invigorates me. When music plays, the beat just energizes me and my body wants to move. Dancing is another favorite of mine, I have always wanted to take dancing lessons but never have, and maybe in my near future I will pursue it.

I am also a bookworm, love to read. My preference is writings that have plenty of descriptive detail, I like to be able to use my imagination and picture the events, character, and settings in my head. Another great thing about reading is learning something new. Learning is another passion of mine; if I am not learning from reading then it is from watching documentaries on television. It is always exciting to learn something new.

Things I Dislike…

Snakes are my number one dislikes, they have always scared me. I remember when I was younger; my grandmother always had me to do homework during the summer to prepare me for the following school year. So one warm summer day, I was sitting outside at the picnic table doing my homework when I felt like something was wrong. I looked underneath the table and there was a black snake, raised up like it was going to strike me. Like you might have guessed by now, I screamed for my grandmother and she came out and chased the snake away. Snakes are not the only animals I dislike, mice/rats and spiders are as well, none of these animals rate very high on my favorites list. Mice/rats remind me of bubonic plague, they venture in places that are nasty and you never know what they might pick up along the way. Spiders are awful, especially when they are crawling on you, gives me a shiver up my spine just thinking about it. I think that the spiders that scare me the most are black widows and tarantulas, I would definitely being screaming my head off if I was to come in contact with either one.

What I Look Like…

I am a female, averaging 5’8” in height. I have brown hair, which I often color it an auburn color, and I keep it really short. I have blue eyes; however, they change colors with my moods and clothes that I wear, so they are not always blue. I have had several comments about my eyes; about how beautiful they are, so I consider them my best features.

How I Act…

I am an outgoing type of person. I have been known to be a goof ball at times, love to make people laugh. I am also an outspoken person, I do not hesitate to ask questions or speak my mind. Leadership definitely runs through my veins, I enjoy leading people/students towards achievement. With leadership comes professionalism, which is exactly what I give when working with students. I have also been referred to as a “mother hen” because I tend to take others under my wing and make sure they produce their best at whatever they are working on.

I love children; they are the most precious creatures on the face of the earth. I believe it to be my duty to supply knowledge, love and guidance to these children, so that they can succeed in life. I am ready to lead.
